GoPro Going More Go!
The future of GoPro was revealed by CEO Nick Woodman when he showed off a rather hardcore GoPro rig last Wednesday at the Code Tech Conference in Los Angeles. The rig is capable of holding 6 GoPros in a spherical media layout, which can be attributed to the acquisition of VR company Kolor last month in an international deal.
This may point to signs that GoPro want to beat the coming waves of Facebook and Oculus in the VR market. Quite nifty, as the 4k stitched footage recorded on the new rigs will be compatible with the Oculus Rift and the HTC Vive. The smartphone app will still be able to view the footage and images filmed with the 6 lens rig, needless to say this has sparked up a bit of discussion on how this would work.
Woodman also hinted at Drone Rigs being developed as well and is rumoured to be released in the first half of 2016, although there have been no announcements as yet. We can only wait in anticipation!
