XCOM 2 Announced
XCOM: Enemy Unknown was a big hit for 2K, and was available on PC and Console. Unfortunately for the console gamers out there it will only be coming to PC this time around.
With that unfortunate news out of the way lets get to what we know; where the previous game left off to explain that the invaders were not really here to conquer but to see if the human race could be changed in to a form of super soldier race that all other alien races the Ethereal had experimented on failed. Where it begins to become clear that Earth offers the best chance of achieving this “uplifting” it also becomes clear that the Ethereal are doing this because there is an even bigger threat around the corner.
XCOM 2 puts us in the starting scenario of 20 years later, and Earth has knelt to the Ethereal and XCOM was disbanded and scattered. These aliens now rule and are erecting shiny big cities and the promise of prosperity between aliens and humans seems quite content, but there is also a sinister plot afoot! The XCOM units are reassembled and it’s up to them to save Earth. Again.
Here is the summary from the XCOM Website:
“Twenty years have passed since world leaders offered an unconditional surrender to alien forces and XCOM, the planet’s last line of defence, was left decimated and scattered. Now the aliens rule Earth, building shining cities that promise a brilliant future for humanity on the surface, while concealing a sinister agenda below and eliminating all who dissent from their new order.
“Only those who live at the edges of the world have a margin of freedom. Here, a force gathers once again to stand up for humanity. Always on the run, the remnant XCOM forces must find a way to rise from the ashes, expose the insidious truth behind the occupation, and eliminate the alien threat once and for all.”

The game will also feature multiplayer, new enemies, The Avenger Ship (XCOM’s new HQ) and modding. We expect to find out a lot more at E3 soon.
