Deep End Games have announced their upcoming title, Perception, and if it’s anything like the trailer we’re in for a bit of a scary ride. This is one Kickstarter initiative we are really hoping comes to fruition.
The protagonist, Cassie, is blind but she also has a bit of a Daredevil sense of hearing. Needless to say, that even though this may sound like you can see anyway, you can actually see very little of your surroundings. Especially when the only sounds are your footsteps…
The beginning of the game finds Cassie at the doorstep of a house that has been plaguing her with visions. Cassie can ‘see’ what is around her by the sounds of the environment such as wind through windows or leaking pipes. If, however, there are no sounds she can thump her can in to the ground to give her temporary vision of her surroundings. Oh, and something in the house just happens to be tracking every sound you make. So banging that cane may not be such a good idea after all.
Sound isn’t the only thing that can help Cassie in the house though, she has her cellphone to help read letters and call a friend. What kind of modern game would it be if you couldn’t update your Facebook status to “Shitting my pants right now” ?
If you would like to help get this game off the ground and into production, you can donate to the kickstarter at https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/perceptiongame/perception-3.
The game does look exciting but don’t take our word for it, here is the trailer for Perception.
